About Us

Penelope’s Purpose is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization located in Ramona, California that was formed to rescue, rehabilitate and re-home unwanted, neglected, & abused pot-bellied pigs. We opened our doors in January 2015.

Too often these amazing animals end up in shelters or in the hands of the wrong people when their families can no longer keep them. Unfortunately, most shelters are not adequately prepared to care for pigs and lets face it, not too many people are not at shelters looking to bring a pig into their family. We would like to be able to pull pigs from local shelters when they become urgent or at risk for euthanasia. Our goal is to get these pigs in for necessary veterinary care (spay, neuter, vaccinations, etc) and bring them to our ranch where they will be loved on and cared for while they await their forever families.

Another common issue is city zoning issues which, sadly, forceably separates pigs from their families. Our goal is to either board these pigs long-term until they can be reunited with their families or to find them new homes.

In cases of neglect or abuse, we hope to be able to bring these pigs to our ranch, provide them with the necessary veterinary care, rehabilitate them, shower them with unconditional love and either find them loving forever families, or keep them here at our ranch as sanctuary residents where they can live out their days knowing nothing but the tender touch and kindness of humans.
